
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Board of Education’s
Five-Star Award program is to honor outstanding employees for
the exceptional contributions they make to the District, their
schools or their departments. These awards will be given annually
to loyal and dedicated individuals who further the Board’s
vision to "provide a quality education for all students."

CRITERIA
Teachers: Open to full-time licensed Utah public
school teachers with a minimum of five years teaching experience
in Jordan District. Must demonstrate outstanding instructional
practices in the classroom. This award honors those who engage
and inspire students and help shape the educational environment
of their schools.
Certificated Employees—At Large: Open to
full-time certificated employees (non classroom teachers such
as counselors, psychologists, teacher specialists, etc.) with
a minimum of five years experience in Jordan District. This award
honors someone with outstanding accomplishment within their respective
field and has made a significant impact on the lives of students.
Classified Employees: Open to full-time classified
employees with a minimum of five years experience in Jordan District.
This award honors support staff who go above and beyond the expectations
of their supervisors in an effort to provide a quality education
for all students.
Administrators: Open to full-time administrators
with a minimum of five years of experience as a practicing administrator in Jordan District.
This award honors administrators with exceptional leadership and
communication skills.
School Public Relations: Open to schools who
demonstrate continuous outstanding customer service and communication with parents and students.
NOMINATION PROCESS
A nomination form must be submitted for each
eligible nominee along with two, one-page letters of recommendation
which state why the nominee is deserving of the award.
Only employees may nominate recipients for these
awards. The nomination does not have to come from a direct supervisor.
Those nominated must be full-time Jordan District employees for
a minimum of five years.
Nominations
that do not strictly adhere to these guidelines will be disqualified.
TIMELINE
Nominations are due May 23, 2008, in the Office of
Communications.
Recipients will be announced each October.
Recipients will receive a $3,000 stipend in their
November paycheck.
Recipients will be recognized during an October
Board of Education meeting, and attend an exlusive recognition banquet.
