Peggy Jo KennettPeggy Jo Kennett - President, Precinct 7
Mrs. Kennett, a resident of West Jordan, was elected to the Jordan School District Board of Education in 1999 and is serving her third term. She has served two terms as Board President (2003-04, 2005-06) and one term as Board Vice President (2001-02).  Mrs. Kennett represents Precinct 7.  She is a member of the Utah School Boards Association Legislative Committee, has been active in the PTA for years and worked as a volunteer at South Valley Sanctuary.   She currently serves as a member of the Utah School Boards Association Board of Directors.  She earned a bachelor of science degree in sociology from Brigham Young University.  Mrs. Kennett and her husband, Scott, are the parents of five children.

Carman R. FreemanCarmen R. Freeman - Vice President, Precinct 1
Carmen R. Freeman was elected to the Board in June 2008 and represents Precinct 1.   He is an accountant and paralegal for a Salt Lake City law firm.

Rick BojakRick Bojak - Member, Precinct 4
Rick Bojak was elected to the Board in June 2008 and represents Precinct 4.  He is a national motivational speaker and seminar leader for Bigger, Faster, Stronger, a company that encourages positive changes in the lives of young people through character education and sports fitness.  Mr. Bojak, a retired teacher, taught for Jordan District for 28 years and for six years at state universities.  He has a master's degree from the University of Utah and a bachelor's degree from Weber State University.  Some of his honors include:  Utah Teacher of the Year, West Jordan High Teacher of the Year, Jordan District Teacher of the Year, West Jordan City Citizen of the Year, and Utah School Boards Association Teacher of the Year.  He serves on the West Jordan City Recreation and Parks Committee, Utah’s Teacher’s Forum Education Committee, and he wrote the curriculum in psychology for the state.  He and his wife, Janet, are the parents of one daughter and have two grandchildren.

Randy S. BrinkerhoffRandy S. Brinkerhoff - Member, Precinct 2
Mr. Brinkerhoff, elected to the Board in 2003, represents Precinct 2. He serves on the Salt Lake-Tooele Applied Technology College Board as a member of the finance and budget committee.  He holds a bachelor of science degree in design and computer graphics from Brigham Young University and an associate degree in business from LDS Business College. He currently serves as a member of the Riverton City Council and is an Operations Specialist for Premier Computing Technologies.  He and his wife, Gayla, are the parents of nine children and grandparents of 26 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Mr. Brinkerhoff, his wife, and all of his children were educated in Jordan School District.

J. Dale ChristensenJ. Dale Christensen, Ed.D. - Member, Precinct 3
J. Dale Christensen, Ed.D., was elected to the Board of Education in 2005 and was previously appointed in February 2004.  He represents Precinct 3.  Dr. Christensen has devoted much of his life to the schoolchildren of Utah, serving as a member of the Granite School District Board of Education, superintendent of Morgan School District, an administrator in Davis School District and an elementary school principal for 16 years and a teacher for two years in Jordan School District.  He retired from public education after 35 years of service. Dr. Christensen has earned four education related degrees from the University of Utah, University of Oregon and Brigham Young University. He and his wife, Linda, are the parents of seven children, all of whom are college graduates. The Christensens have 13 grandchildren.

Richard S. Osborn - Member, Precinct 5
Richard S. Osborn was elected to the Board in June 2008 and represents Precinct 5. He has been a teacher for 32 years and is currently a fourth-grade teacher in Granite School District.  He retired from teaching in Jordan District after 26 years.  He has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Utah, a master’s of education administration from Brigham Young University, and an administrative supervisory certificate from the University of Utah.  Mr. Osborn has been a member of South Jordan City’s emergency preparedness teams.  He and his wife, Karen, are the parents of five children and have eight grandchildren.

Leah Voorhies, Ph.D. - Member, Precinct 6
Leah Voorhies, Ph.D., was elected to the Board of Education in June 2008 and represents Precinct 6.   A licensed school psychologist, Ms. Voorhies has worked at the Utah School for the Deaf and the Blind the past 11 years, first as a school psychologist, then coordinator of Psychological and Social Work Services and now as director of Related Services.   She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology, a master’s degree in school psychology, and a doctorate degree in counseling psychology, all from Brigham Young University.  She was a grant co-recipient, Interagency Outreach Training Initiative, Mental Health Care Standards for Working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and was a member of the Child Trauma Treatment Network-Intermountain West, Deaf/Hard of Hearing Team. Ms. Voorhies was also an instructor at Salt Lake Community College for seven years in both the Education and Social Sciences departments. She currently chairs the Child Abuse Prevention Action Committee sponsored by the Department of Child and Family Services, is past president of the Utah Association of School Psychologists, and is a board member for the Utah Deaf and Blind Children’s Fund, a United Way nonprofit organization.
