Mission
The mission of the Nutrition Services Department
is to provide high quality, nutritious and
appetizing meals to students of Jordan School District, in a pleasant
environment, at a cost
that is practical to the students and self-sustaining to the department.
NuMenus
Rather than the traditional five component meal, the NuMenus meal pattern is an entree, milk and a side dish or side dishes.
NuMenus is:
An effective method of planning and evaluating the nutritional value
of school meals
An important part of the School Meals Initiative (SMI). The School
Meals Initiatives
are the new regulations from the United States Department of Agriculture
regulating
child nutrition programs. Helping children learn healthy eating
habits and helping all of us learn and follow the "Dietary
Guidelines for Americans."
Each week the menus for that week will be analyzed
and the analysis will be printed on our
W eb page. Meals will be monitored for: Vitamin A, Calcium, Vitamin
C, Iron, Protein, Calories, Lower Fat, Lower Saturated Fat.
