District Division Information

Jordan District voters residing east of the Jordan River voted Nov. 6 to create a new school district, 53 percent "for" to 47 percent "against." West Jordan City voters rejected a new district in that city, 30 percent "for" to 70 percent "against."

Throughout its 100-year history, Jordan District has been extremely efficient and effective in educating students. Our hope is the new district and the remaining district can perform as well. Our primary goal moving forward will be to make the transition with as little disruption to students as possible.

The current Board of Education will continue to provide education services to students through the end of the 2008-09 school year. Transition teams representing the remaining and new school districts were announced Dec. 18, 2007. These teams have until July 1, 2008, to allocate assets between the remaining and new school districts. Elections for new school board members in both districts will take place in June 2008.

The Jordan Board of Education, administration and staff remain committed to providing the best education possible for our students.
