In light of the unusually hot temperatures this summer, Jordan School District nurses recommend the following precautions for students who attend schools without air conditioning:
1. Wear loose-fitting, lightweight, light-colored clothing.
2. Drink plenty of water even if you do not feel thirsty. Students may bring water bottles to school.
3. Avoid drinks with caffeine or large amounts of sugar-- they make the heat’s effects on your body worse.
4. Limit vigorous activity.
5. Students with special medical conditions should alert the principals of their needs.
6. Elementary students should wear hats during recess.
