  • Board Comments
  • Randy Brinkerhoff expressed appreciation to those who organized the administrative social.
  • Kim Horiuchi thanked the Administration for locating alternative fuel engines for the 11 new buses the  Board approved last month.  Mrs. Horiuchi referred to a national story in The Deseret Morning News  that discussed school buses and pollution.  She believes the new buses will be a great benefit to the environment and students.
  • Peggy Jo Kennett attended a West Jordan City town meeting hosted by West Jordan legislators.  She said approximately 80 percent of the questions were related to school issues such as impact fees, growth, tax increases, class size reduction, transportation, and school district equalization.  She was happy to see patrons are so concerned about school issues.
  • Tracy Cowdell attended Sandy Elementary School’s choir performance and expressed appreciation to those community members who volunteer to direct the choir.  He was impressed the students held a second performance at a local nursing home.

Bella Vista Elementary
On behalf of the community and staff of Bella Vista Elementary School, Principal Denis Lyons expressed appreciation to the Board for their newly remodeled school.  The school’s primary focus is literacy and approximately 90 percent of its students are reading on grade level.  In a recent survey, Bella Vista parents said the school has high standards of student behavior, has students who are enthusiastic about going to school, and provides a safe environment.  The school also provides numerous programs to honor students for their outstanding achievements.
