Land Purchase Option
The Board of Education approved the option to purchase 40 acres of land in Riverton as a site for future Jordan District facilities by a vote of 4-2. Board members Kim Horiuchi and Sherril Taylor opposed the motion asking the Board to delay its decision until after transition teams make presentations on March 27 concerning division of assets. Board members voting in favor of the option to purchase stated the decision will have no impact on the transition teams’ presentations. Board member Tracy Cowdell was absent.
The land, located at 4100 W. 12800 South, has a total purchase price of $7.6 million. The option holds the property until a newly elected Jordan Board of Education takes office in July and can make a final decision on purchasing the property.
