About Brookwood Elementary
Brookwood Elementary is located in the Willow Creek section in the northeast area of Jordan School District. Growth has stabilized in this middle to upper-income residential area. Brookwood offers students a warm inviting, positive atmosphere with ample opportunity to learn. The school goal is to help each student gain a solid foundation in basic skills, a positive self-image, respect for the rights of others, ability to make decisions and willingness to accept responsibility for individual behavior.

LogoA Quality Education
Brookwood Elementary has a strong tradition of academic excellence and student success.  Our student test scores rank consistently among the top elementary schools in the state.  Teachers, students, and parents, work hard to ensure that all our children are successful, self-reliant, curious, responsible, and prepared to meet their next challenge and level of learning.
The Utah State Core Curriculum is carefully and systematically incorporated to develop and challenge the whole child-mind, body and character. Brookwood Elementary is a community of motivated learners and teachers working together, bringing the best global educational experiences, and opportunities to prepare life long learners.

Teaching and Learning
The make up of our faculty includes instructors with advanced degrees and extensive experience along with new teachers who provide fresh perspective and insights.  Teachers are organized into grade equivalent teams where coupled efforts provide endless opportunities for individual growth.
Our PTA and parent volunteer involvement is second to none.  Brookwood volunteers bring with them a wealth of information and experience to help sharpen and expand young minds.  On site training enhances their donation of time and knowledge.
Brookwood provides a safe environment thus empowering the members of our school family to develop individual talents through balanced and comprehensive curricula in mathematics, reading, spelling, English, composition, science, health, art, music, physical education, social studies and technological competencies.

Community School
Brookwood Elementary offers a variety of classes for students through our community school.  Students have an opportunity to engage in extra-curricular activities before and after school.  Listed below is a sampling of classes we offer.
Volleyball - This popular class teaches the basics of volleyball while instilling a love of the game and a sense of fair play for the students.
Cooking - The basics of cooking are taught around a culinary theme.  Students are engaged in all aspects of the cooking process.  Our students leave the class armed with the knowledge and expertise to prepare a complete meal for their family.
Art - Unbelievable talents emerge when students participate in these classes.  With gentle encouragement and a real flair for visual arts our teacher brings out the best in our young artists.
Orchestra - Beginning and advanced orchestra are taught in our music room.  Students perform at school, local malls, and Symphony Hall.
Movie Making - The next Steven Spielberg may be among our midst.  This exciting class offers students a chance to try their hand at the complicated process of writing, directing, starring, and editing their own films.
Debate - An interest in the law or politics may be sparked in this class.  Students learn how to formulate and present arguments, both pro and con.  The skills developed in this class will last a lifetime.

Student Achievement

Criterion Referenced Tests (CRT)
The Core Criterion Referenced Tests (CRTs) are administered at the end of each school year to help assess how well students have mastered the standards and objectives set forth in the State of Utah Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science core curricula.   Student achievement is reported as the percent of students reaching “proficient” by earning a Level 3 or Level 4 performance on the Core CRT.
