ABOUT LONE PEAK ELEMENTARY

Lone Peak Elementary is situated at the base of Lone Peak mountain in the Wasatch Range. The school serves students from kindergarten through sixth grade who live in the southeast corner of Salt Lake Valley. Lone Peak is a modern school offering a combination of enclosed classrooms and spacious open areas. Both the building and the playground are terraced to harmonize with the mountain contour. There is also a nature park and trail on the north hillside of the campus. This serves as an outdoor classroom, and allows our students to explore their environment and learn earth science concepts with hands-on experiences.

  • LogoLone Peak is a year-round school with four attendance tracks. Students typically attend school for 45 days followed by a 15 day vacation. The entire school has vacations together on holidays and summer vacation in July.
  • The teacher/pupil ratio is 1 to 22 in first grade, 1 to 23 in second grade, 1 to 25 in third grade, and 1 to 27 in grades four, five and six. The actual class sizes vary.
  • The Lone Peak faculty has a wide range of backgrounds and talents. The teachers are highly respected by the community because they are talented, caring and provide a strong academic program for our students.
  • Each Lone Peak teacher is evaluated on a regular basis by the principal. The principal is evaluated by District administrators, staff and parents.
  • Teachers work in teams and plan together to provide students maximum learning opportunities
  • Technology education is provided in the school's computer lab and supplemented with computers in the classrooms.
  • A certified resource teacher, speech pathologist, and guidance counselor are on staff to help students with special needs.
  • A hot lunch is provided each day. Students are permitted to choose from the menu, and are able to purchase additional fruit snacks. The student price is $1.50 per lunch.
  • Lone Peak has a School Community Council comprised of neighborhood representatives, teachers, and the principal. The group helps plan schoolwide projects and gives input on all vital school issues.
  • Our PTA is actively helping students succeed in school. PTA volunteers log over one thousand hours of service each year, and help provide many enrichment activities that make Lone Peak an outstanding school.
