Majestic Elementary is located about 15 miles south of Salt Lake City in West Jordan City. The school community is comprised of middle class suburban housing with some apartment complexes and a few commercial businesses. Majestic patrons are traditionally supportive and anxious to be involved in their children's education.
The Majestic faculty is committed to helping students meet their educational potential. The school goal is to educate all students to high levels of academic performance and to teach each one responsible social behavior.
Majestic Elementary serves
400 students from kindergarten through sixth grade.
Majestic also serves two preschool child development classes
(approximately 70 students), 65 head start students & 20 diagnostic kindergarten students for a total of approximately 550 .- The school, which opened in 1975, has had self-contained classrooms since 1996.
- School is in session 180 days a year on a standard nine-month calendar. The school day begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. except on Fridays when students are dismissed at 1:40 p.m. to allow teachers time for planning.
- The teacher/pupil ratio is 1 to 22.00 in first grade, 1 to 22.30 in second grade, 1 to 23.80 in third grade, and 1 to 25.90 in grades four, five and six. Actual class sizes vary.
- All teachers hold state teaching certificates. Several have master's degrees and many have ESL endorsements.
- Majestic is committed to providing learning opportunities to students of all ability levels. In the primary grades, math is taught through a "hands-on" approach. Balanced literacy, guided reading and six traits of writing are used to help students broaden understanding.
- Teachers work cooperatively in teams to meet the needs of students.
- Teachers undergo formal evaluations on a regular basis to assure continuing professional development.
- Special programs that are available to qualifying students include Resource, Guidance, Title One, and Gifted/Talented.
- Students are expected to dress according to District standards and to attend school regularly.
- Good behavior is valued. Majestic students are expected to conform to school standards of conduct, treat the building and others with respect, to create a good learning atmosphere.
- The school has an excellent breakfast and lunch program. The student price is $1.50 per lunch and 70 cents for breakfast. Free and reduced price lunches and breakfasts are available to qualifying students.Majestic is a walk-in school.
- School visitors are always welcome at Majestic. Visitors should check in at the office as they arrive.
- Majestic has an active PTA and School Community Council and other volunteers who provide hours of valuable service to the school each year.
- Each year our teachers attend hours of inservice to upgrade and enhance instructional skills.
- Several of our teachers have been recognized for outstanding classroom instruction.
Criterion Referenced Tests (CRT)
The Core Criterion Referenced Tests (CRTs) are administered at the end of each school year to help assess how well students have mastered the standards and objectives set forth in the State of Utah Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science core curricula. Student achievement is reported as the percent of students reaching “proficient” by earning a Level 3 or Level 4 performance on the Core CRT.

IOWA Tests
The IOWA Test of Basic Skills provides a comparison of achievement to students across the United States in reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. The IOWA test is given each fall to students in grades 3, 5, and 8. The Jordan School District School also administers the IOWA to students in grade 6. Results are reported as the average percentile rank. The national average is the 50th percentile in each area.

Direct Writing Assessment (DWA)
The Direct Writing Assessment (DWA) is designed to assess the writing skills of 6th and 9th grade students in February and March each year. The following six components of writing are assessed: ideas & content, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, and conventions.
