• West Jordan Elementary opened in 1982 and serves 550 Students K-6
• The school is on a traditional schedule.
• The school day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:05 p.m. except on Friday when school is dismissed at 1:25 p.m. for teacher planning time.
• The teacher/pupil ratios by grades are: Kindergarten 1 to 23.25, first grade 1 to 22.8, second grade 1 to 22.8, third grade 1 to 24.3 and grades 4-6 1 to 26.4.
• All teachers participate in the district’s professional development program. All staff members are formally evaluated on a regular basis.
• Students with special needs are served by a resource teacher, a speech pathologist, and a guidance specialist.
• Students celebrate their successes with a weekly Principal’s Pride Ceremony.
• West Jordan Elementary participates in the Presidential Physical Fitness Program.
• Students are expected to comply with district attendance, discipline and dress standards.
• Breakfast and lunch are offered to all students. Breakfast is $.70 and lunch is $1.50 for students.
• The school enjoys the services of an active PTA and School Community Council.
• Parents are always welcome to visit and participate in school activities. State law requires all visitors to check-in at the office prior to visiting the classroom.

Criterion Referenced Tests (CRT)
The Core Criterion Referenced Tests (CRTs) are administered at the end of each school year to help assess how well students have mastered the standards and objectives set forth in the State of Utah Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science core curricula.   Student achievement is reported as the percent of students reaching “proficient” by earning a Level 3 or Level 4 performance on the Core CRT.

IOWA Tests
The IOWA Test of Basic Skills provides a comparison of achievement to students across the United States in reading, language arts, math, science and social studies.  The IOWA test is given each fall to students in grades 3, 5, and 8.  The Jordan School District School also administers the IOWA to students in grade 6.  Results are reported as the average percentile rank.  The national average is the 50th percentile in each area.
