The mission of the classified professional improvement committee is to encourage,
guide and reward the professional development of staff members.

How to Apply

Applying for classes is a simple task.  Simply fill out Classified Staff Development Registration form and return it to Curriculum and Staff Development at the District office.   This form is available online at jordandistrict.org/departments/curriculum/index.htm or at the district office, in Curriculum and Staff Development Department.  Any advertisement of classes will instruct you how to apply.

Requirements
Participants must attend all class sessions and complete the assignments to receive a certificate for the class.

Funding for Classes
Employees who desire to take classes approved by CPIC may fund them in the following ways:

  1. Employee pays for class by personal check or money order.
  2. Employee may request the use of staff development funds from their department, director, or principal. All departments and schools have a staff development fund. Payment is made by check or journal entry.
  3. Employee completes a Classified Staff Development Registration form available online or from the Staff Development Department at the district office.

Professional Development Days
Professional Development Days are days for classified employees who take a class or course during the workday.  You may apply for a professional development day through your designated administrative representative.  Your supervisor must approve the request. A form is available for  Classified Professional Development Inservice Day Curriculum and Staff Development department at the district office.

Meetings
The CPIC committee meets on the first Thursday of the month. The committee reviews all inservice requests for classes, and they may make recommendations regarding approval. Class requests must be to our department by the 25th of the month.

The committee functions to help classified employees gain needed skills and abilities. As a classified employee, you may want to suggest a class for your own improvement. You may email, telephone, or contact Lucy Bateman to receive information about applying for a class or suggesting classes for the committee to approve.  Suggestions for classes to be taught must be accompanied by suggestions for teachers who would be available, knowledgeable, experienced in the subject.

Members
The committee consists of the following members:

  1. The executive director of Curriculum and Staff Development
  2. Two principals (one elementary, and one secondary)
  3. One representative from each of the following advisory committees:
    District Office Support (DOSS), Custodial, Maintenance, Transportation, Central Warehouse, School Secretaries, Nutrition Services, Training Assistants.

The CPIC Committee has not formed since our move to the new district office.  Any questions you have about classes should go directly to Lucy Bateman.
